Communications Exchange Network
The two-way radio communications network (known as the Communications Exchange Network) was designed to create more "eyes and ears" on the streets of downtown. This communication system, funded by the Downtown St. Louis Community Improvement District, will be used as an exchange of information and networking, not to replace 911, of the different security staffs and organizations throughout the downtown area. The system is also meant to facilitate internal communication on security and beautification matters while providing an enhanced communication link with the police department.
Several security staffs and organizations, as well as the CID Guide program, participate in ComEx Net. The CID Guide Dispatcher monitors the ComEx Net and the St. Louis 4th Police District frequency while they are on duty. The console operators of the USBank security staff monitor the base station when the CID Guides are not working. In all the ComEx Net system is monitored 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Any pertinent information is then communicated to all of the ComEx Net members in the downtown area.
