TREx

T-REx, The Regional Entrepreneur Exchange is a low-cost, flexible-lease space that is intended to attract new startup businesses to downtown St. Louis. T-REx provides space for startup companies that are looking “to build something gigantic.”

In September 2011, the Railway Exchange Building opened the 12th floor elevator doors to startup IT companies. The project has since grown to both the 12th and 13th floor with 45 companies, 130+ members and service providers.

 

T-REx is home to organizations such as Arch Grants that gives $50,000 grants to startup companies locating in St. Louis. Capital Innovators, an accelerator program for startup IT companies. Cultivation Capital, a venture capital fund that invests $100,000 to $1,000,000 in Missouri IT startup companies to help them continue rapid growth. iTEN an organization that mentors IT companies from concept through launch, assisting in funding sources, scale and rapid growth. Missouri Small Business and Technology Development Center is also located in T-REx.

 

Companies in T-REx include IDC Projects, a location based gaming company that located to downtown St. Louis from Rolla, Missouri after winning an Arch Grant. Med Preps, started by two Washington University graduates who moved back to St. Louis to launch their business making digital practice tests and flashcards to help medical professionals prepare for certification exams. Iverta TV is the “hulu of foreign TV”. The company has the technological infrastructure and business model to deliver foreign language TV streams to the millions of immigrants living in the United States.

 

Since opening, T-REx has hosted various events downtown including Startup Weekend, UMSL’s extreme IT summer camp, a visit from Japan’s Rikkyo University, IT Meetup groups, and other entrepreneurial activities to the heart of downtown.     

 

This project is underwritten by three not-for-profit economic development organizations: Partnership for Downtown St. Louis Community Improvement District, the St. Louis Development Corporation and the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association.
