Clean Team
The CID Clean Team provides supplemental litter and debris pick-up from downtown sidewalks, plazas and other public spaces throughout the week. They also operate the colorful "purple paper eater" vacuums that have become a popular downtown sight.
 | Dressed in bright purple uniforms, the CID Clean Team operates seven days a week. They
remove graffiti, handbills, trash, debris and other foreign objects from the sidewalks, curbs, gutters, plazas and streets of downtown and other public areas throughout the District. The nine full-time “Clean Team” members provide broom and pan cleaning, sidewalk pressure washing and also operate two street/sidewalk sweeper machines. In partnership with the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Patrick Center, the Clean Team is expanded to fifteen members from April through September. This expanded group, known as the “Green Team” recycles trash outside Busch Stadium during home games and supplements cleaning throughout the rest of the District during the peak spring/summer season. |
Litter Patrol Hotline
The CID's 24 hour litter hotline assures prompt service and a clean downtown. The Hotline provides a means by which a downtown user can report litter problems in the downtown area twenty-four hours a day.
An individual simply calls the main number of the Downtown Partnership, 436-6500, and at the recording enters *400 (star, four, zero, zero). This prompts the Litter Patrol Hotline recording and the individual can leave a detailed message about the problem and its location.
The Litter Patrol Crew removes trash and other foreign objects from the curbs, gutters and plazas within the district seven days each week. The team checks the messages twice a day, seven days a week.
Graffiti Removal
The graffiti team removes graffiti, paper signs, handbills and other physical defacement visible from the sidewalk by painting, using chemical solvents and pressure washing.
Crewmembers patrol the downtown area from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., six days per week. All tags or defacements are normally removed within 24 hours. To report graffiti, simply call the Litter Patrol Hotline (see the above number).
