Dressed in bright gold and black uniforms, the Downtown Guides are full-time, professional, assertive and friendly individuals who patrol on bikes and on foot, serving both a public safety and hospitality role. There are currently 10 guides operating on three shifts a day from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm. Dressed in their bright gold and black uniforms, they also serve public safety as additional “eyes and ears” on the street. They are highly visible and well received by residents, businesses and visitors. Some of the courtesy services performed:


• Complete businesses and parking lot security checks;
• Give directions and provide information to;
• Provides escort to parking lots or residences;
• Offer attraction and dining recommendations; and,
• Present at Special Events


Especially during events and conventions downtown, the men and women dressed in gold and black uniforms have been charged with making the stay and visit to downtown as pleasant an experience as you expect it to be! Equipped with Dining and User Guides & Maps, along with radios, the Downtown Guides are trained to be at the beck and call of those in need.

Using smart phones, they can access requested information and print directions to local destinations. The Guides have documented over 59,000 personal interactions yearly, with almost 40,000 Security and Business checks. Core hours for the Guides are from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm, Monday thru Friday.
