 Adam's Mark Hotel Has New Name & Brand

Starting April 2008, the 910 room Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown St. Louis will be known as the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront.  The Chartres Lodging Group LLC of San Francisco completed their purchase of the hotel in February with plans to invest $63 million to reposition, rebrand and a building wide renovation.  Specific renovation details for this property will be announced in the coming months.

 

Chartres Lodging plans to spend more than $238 million to do the same to four other Adam's Mark properties over the next 18 months.  Those include Adam's Mark Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis and Buffalo-Niagara. 


 Saint Louis Fashion Week Returns

The 2nd annual Saint Louis Fashion Week will return March 25-30, 2008.  The event made its debut to the St. Louis scene in 2007 featuring international designers, upscale runway shows and several global icons.

 

This years event will feature much of the same including: top designers Rachel Pally, Black Halo and Yana K, whose fashions can be seen on celebs like Drew Barrymore, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Lopez and the runways of L.A. Fashion Week; a Saint Louis Fashion Week Launch Party with Kimora Lee Simmons on Saturday, March 15th at Lumen (2201 Locust); high energy fashion shows at Glow, Pure and Energy (Lumiére Place - 999 2nd Avenue); after party at F15TEEN (1900 Locust Street) and so much more. 

 

To assist in promoting Saint Louis Fashion Week, downtown developer RileyWaldrop and Alive Magazine will also launch a St. Louis Fashion Showcase in the vacant window storefronts along Washington Avenue between Tucker and 14th Streets. The window displays will be decorated March 16th - May 5th to promote Fashion Week, fashion retailers and designers from the region. For more information, contact Zach Riley at 314.276.9809.

 Schnucks Commits to Downtown Store

The ground floor of the ten-story 9th Street Parking Garage will soon be home to a well known downtown grocery store, Schnucks.  The 25,000 square foot urban food store and specialty market will be located at the corner of 9th and Olive Streets and cater to the needs of downtown residents, workers and visitors. 

 

The two-level store will feature fresh produce and specialty foods (natural and organic), a pharmacy, floral shop, Kaldi's Coffee bar, meat and seafood departments, salad bar, Asian hot-food bar, barbecue bar, pizza station, made-to-order sandwich shop, tapas tasting area, seating space and more.  The store is slated to open in either late 2008 or early 2009.


 Lumière Place Opens "The Shops At Lumière Place"

Lumière Place, an entertainment destination with exciting gaming, unique restaurants and luxury hotels has now added upscale boutiques to its repertoire.  Four new boutique shops, MensRoom, Blush, L'ove, and ETC, opened on the Lumière Place promenade end of February. 

 

MensRoom is an upscale clothier with names like Lacoste, Tommy Bahama, DKNY jeans and Cutter & Buck that offers high-style collections for the contemporary man including hats, polos, t-shirts, pants, belts, socks, and luggage along with Johnston & Murphy shoes.  MensRoom will also offer a feature you won't find in just any men's store, a humidor offering fine cigars beginning in the second quarter of 2008.

 

Blush of Lumière Place offers an array of collections from top fashion designers including Steve Madden and Kensie, plus Lucky Brand Jeans, Jessica Simpson shoes and Rioni hand bags. 

 

L'ove is an intimate apparel and lingerie boutique.

 

ETC has all the comforts of home that you forgot to bring to the resort.  From cameras and candy, to newspapers, toiletries and Lumière Place logo merchandise, ETC is your one-stop boutique.

 

MensRoom, Blush of Lumière Place and L'ove are open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, Friday and Saturday 9:00 am to 11:00 pm and Sunday 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  ETC is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


 Famous Celebrities Open Downtown Venue

Inspired by a passion for both sports and St. Louis, Nelly, Marshall Faulk, Larry Hughes, and Darius Miles have teamed together to create downtown's premier sports bar and grill---Skybox. Located at 800 N. Third Street on Laclede's Landing (old Planet Hollywood building) Skybox offers a great environment in which to catch the big games, relax with friends, and enjoy great food and drink. Skybox features over 70 hi-definition TV screens, a cigar room, and delicious American cuisine with menu specialty items such as Marshall's cornbread-battered shrimp "rich" boy and the signature chicken wings (a favorite of Darius Miles), both of which can be served with Nelly's spiced BBQ sauce.

Skybox is open 7 days a week.  Hours are Monday - Thursday, 11 am - 10 pm, Friday, 11 am - midnight, Saturday, 4 pm - midnight and Sunday, 4 pm - 10 pm.  The bar is open until 1:30 am weeknights and 3:00 am weekends.  For more information, click here. 


 4th District Police Awards Luncheon

The annual 4th District Police Officers Awards luncheon will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront (formerly the Adam's Mark Hotel). The luncheon, beginning at Noon, will recognize those police officers that have contributed above and beyond their normal call of duty as a 4th District Police Officer. An officer will be recognized for each month of the year as well as one presented with the "Officer of the Year" award. The Annual Report on Safety, which highlights downtown crime stats as well as those Downtown Community Improvement District programs contributing to the overall safety environment, will also be released at the luncheon.

 St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

The 39th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place in downtown St. Louis Saturday, March 15, 2008. The parade steps off at noon from 18th and Market Streets and proceeds east on Market to Broadway, where it will disband. The parade will feature elaborate floats, marching bands, marching units, dance groups, animal units, novelty units, motorized units and giant cartoon character helium-filled balloons.

This year the parade activities will again feature the Irish Village at Kiener Plaza from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. The Irish Village will feature a Main Stage with Irish and popular music, the Radio Disney Stage with a 90-minute show, food and beverages from Norton's Cafe, Super Smoker's World Championship BBQ, TGI Friday's, Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark Dining Center, Irish novelties from Lite Up the Night, free inflatable bounce rides for children, free face painting, jugglers, and balloon sculptures. 

Due to the change in parade direction from west to east, Market Street will be closed at 7:30 a.m. from Compton to 20th Street for staging of parade units and from 20th Street east to Broadway for the parade. For more information, click here.  


Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at St. Louis Union Station 
March 15th 

St. Louis Union Station will also have St. Patrick's Day activities for all. Events are as follows: The John Ford Highland Pipe Band will perform as they march through the Station at 10 am; a live radio broadcast of the parade will take place with Mark Klose and Laurie Mac with KHITS on the Market Street balcony from 11 am - 1 pm; Dr. Zhivegas will perform a concert on the Lake Stage from 1 pm - 5 pm; and, the O'Faolain Academy of Irish Dance will perform on the South Plaza at 3 pm.  GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend

The 2008 GO! St. Louis® Family Fitness Weekend will be held April 5 - 6, 2008. The event will feature fitness for all age groups and skill levels with seven different races.

In addition to the weekend fitness events, a two-day health & fitness expo will be held at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront (formerly Adam's Mark Hotel) and the annual pasta party will be held at the Old Post Office in downtown St. Louis.
