In 2007 the downtown residents partnered with
Alderwoman Kacie Starr Triplett regarding the beautification and
revival of Lucas Park. Through a series of town hall style meetings and brainstorming
sessions, the first phase of capital improvements for Lucas Park
was created and construction is underway. Over $125,000 has been
allocated to make basic improvements to the park: removing dead
trees, widening the sidewalk along 14th street to make it more
pedestrian friendly, repairing the water faucet, new benches,
and a new downtown DOG PARK.
In tandem with the construction, Alderwoman Triplett
continues to meet with the Human Services Division, Parks
Department, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, Downtown
Partnership, St. Louis Public Library and several homeless
service providers to discuss some of the unique challenges that
still exist in the park. Donations are
still needed to complete the park. For more information or to
contribute, contact Alderwoman Kacie Starr Triplett at
314.622.3753.
