The all inclusive 2009 Downtown Dining Guide has
arrived and is ready for distribution. Due to an overwhelming demand from
hotel concierges for a downtown directional map, we have
formatted this year's guide to also serve as a restaurant
listing on the inside and full sized map on the outer cover.
The Dining Guide continues to be one of our most highly
requested pieces and is paid for by the restaurants that
advertise in the guide. To request your complimentary copies,

In 2003, the
Downtown CID and the St. Louis Development Corporation
established a retail
leasing strategy that has
helped to attract over 125 new shops, restaurants and
services into the downtown area. Virtually all of these
businesses are locally
owned operations, started by
independent entrepreneurs with a passion for their
product and a belief in downtown.
Starting a new
retail business is never
easy. There is a high rate of failure, even in the
best of markets. To take the risk on starting a retail business
in a newly
emerging market like downtown takes
vision, persistence and patience. Now, in
addition
to all of the other challenges of operating an independent
retail
business, these entrepreneurs are facing the
worst economy in many years.
In light of these
challenges, a grass roots
"Buy Local" movement is growing across the country
that is focused on helping great, local merchants to survive.
The 3/50 Project is one of the newest of
these "Buy Local" organizations and simply encourages consumers
to identify
three favorite, independent merchants
and commit to spending a total of $50 per
month in
those stores. The website http://www.the350project.net/home.html
details how support for local businesses not only
helps these businesses to
survive but also provides
significantly higher economic returns to the local
communities they serve.
We encourage you
to visit the 3/50 Project website
for more information. Better yet, we
encourage you
to visit our website by clicking
here
for a complete listing and map of downtown
St. Louis shops,
restaurants and services. Best of
all, we encourage you to shop, dine and
support
your favorite downtown businesses each and every month starting
with
Mother's Day gifts from some of the merchants
or brunch at one of the
restaurants.
