    Same Neighborhood – New Space

The Partnership for Downtown St. Louis has moved into new offices in the Laclede Gas Building (720 Olive Street - Suite 450). Our "storefront operations" (Guides, Clean Team, Landscape Supervisor and Downtown Information Center) are now located on the ground floor of the same building, visible from Pine Street and accessed from the building lobby. Visitors or employees exiting the MetroLink station could easily identify the storefront office that also doubles as an information center.

The architect for our new offices was HOK and the interior designer assigned to the project describes the space as timeless, sleek and forward-thinking. Features of our new space include a more spacious reception area with a lime green element in the ceiling and white glossy floor, two conference rooms that overlook the Old Post Office with state-of-the-art audio visual, an energetic and collaborative working space for the staff, huddle rooms for added privacy and much more.

    Downtown Population Still Growing

After an extensive survey of all downtown properties, we have found that despite the continuing challenges of the economy and, in particular, the housing market, interest in downtown living remains strong. Condo sales for January through June were down 41% from 2007's all time high pace but total sales of 134 condos exceeded condo sales of 124 units in 2005 and 110 units 2006. And, while condo demand has slowed, the rental market is strong. New apartment properties that opened in late 2007 through the first half of 2008 are filling quickly. Neighborhood Gardens, The Syndicate and Tudor apartments are near capacity and more than half of all rental properties reported an increase in occupancy. As a result, downtown population grew in the January through June period by nearly 500 people, bringing the total to just under 11,000. For the updated residential occupancy report, click here.

    Stray Rescue Getting New Home

Construction is underway at 2320 Pine Street on the new animal center for Stray Rescue St. Louis. The 16,500 square foot building will have medical facilities, housing for dogs and cats, administrative space and storage and will also house the Operation Spot (an educational animal non-profit), Pound Pals (free spay and neutering for the low income applicants), Metro Animal (informational agency that gives info on pet friendly housing) and Cat Network.

To help raise awareness and the last $1 million needed to finish their facilities, Stray Rescue is hosting a series of events through October called The Miracle Million Series, at the new site. The building was donated by AGEdwards/Wachovia and they already have $1 million awarded to them from Zootoo.com. Click here for a full list of events or for more information.

    New Venture Center

Neighborhoods.) is made up of three parts - an innovative small business incubator, a training and education center providing skills training courses in real-world trades with a wrap-around network of social support services and a Catholic Charities Conference Center featuring a 250-seat meeting room with facilities, catering and audio-visual capabilities.

The new state-of-the-art facilities is the first of its kind in the nation and features secured office space, shared conference rooms and common areas for networking and idea-sharing.
