After an extensive
survey of all downtown properties, we have found that despite
the continuing challenges of the economy and, in particular, the
housing market, interest in downtown living remains strong.
Condo sales for January through June were down 41% from 2007's
all time high pace but total sales of 134 condos exceeded condo
sales of 124 units in 2005 and 110 units 2006. And, while condo
demand has slowed, the rental market is strong. New apartment
properties that opened in late 2007 through the first half of
2008 are filling quickly. Neighborhood Gardens, The Syndicate
and Tudor apartments are near capacity and more than half of all
rental properties reported an increase in occupancy. As a
result, downtown population grew in the January through June
period by nearly 500 people, bringing the total to just under
11,000. For the updated residential occupancy report, click

Greyhound Moves to Gateway Transportation Center
|
 |
 |
|
After being located in the Old Cass
Bank Building for the last eighty years, the Greyhound Bus
Station has relocated to the newly built St. Louis Gateway Transportation Center.
Located at 430 S. 15th
Street, Greyhound now offers 35 daily schedules to destinations
across the United States, including Chicago, Memphis, Nashville,
New York, Kansas City, Denver, Springfield and Los Angeles. It
is open 24 hours every day. The facility also provides Greyhound
PackageXpress (GPX) shipping.
Greyhound has stated that being
located in the transportation center allows passengers to easily
connect to Amtrak and St. Louis Regional Transit. The Gateway
Transportation Center is the City of St. Louis' state-of-the-art
multimodal transportation hub where Amtrak passenger train,
Greyhound bus, and Metro light rail and bus service converge.
This new facility provides passengers with a clean, safe, and
friendly transportation center featuring 24-hour operations
staff and security. For Greyhound ticket information in St.
Louis, call 314-231-4485.
