| Culinaria Sets an Opening Date! |
The anchoring of the new 250 pound Culinaria Schnucks Store sign signifies progress toward the August 11th opening of the new downtown store. Culinaria will be approximately 21,000 square feet on the lower level and 6,300 on the top level. The store will feature a full service pharmacy and have a strong emphasis on prepared foods, grab-n-go sandwiches, pizza slices and other popular lunch items. In addition to the basic grocery items, Kaldi's Coffee and Benito's Gelato will be offered. Stay tuned for more information.

Nike Opening Downtown

Nike is planning to open a new store on the ground level of the former International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame in downtown St. Louis. Nike expects to use approximately 2,500 to 3,000 square feet of space and will open on time for the All Star festivities. Work is presently underway on the project and more details coming soon.

| City Museum Rooftop Experience |
The City Museum's roof opens to the public this Friday, June 5th. The roof features a Ferris wheel, slides (including a three-story slide on top of a 10-story building), fountains, as well as places to climb, hop, skip, jump, and relax. Enjoy picnic next to the precariously perched school bus while rooftop breezes ruffle your hair. Then, snap back to reality to realize that you're in prime fountain-splashing zone. Downtown's newest open space, the Old Post Office Plaza, is attracting a variety of activities for "players" of all ages. From Kids Saturday and the Sheldon Concert Series to the St. Louis Public Library Not So Quiet series and free outdoor movies presented by WeCar, there's something for everyone to participate in. This Saturday, June 6th will feature story telling and live puppet shows at Kids Saturday beginning at 10:30 am. At Noon while registration for the Downtown Living Tour is going on live music from My Own Medicine, Dave Stone Trio and Alvin Jett & the Phat Noiz will play! | All Star Weekend |
The All Star Weekend is rapidly approaching and Major League Baseball invites everyone out to the festivities. To prepare the Americas Center is being transformed into the All Star Fanfest and will feature an interactive baseball themepark, video batting cages and game zone, Home Run Derby, exhibits and attractions, Major League clinics and seminars, free autograph sessions with Cardinals legends and Hall of Famers, memorabilia, the Largest Baseball Interactive Spectacular in the World and much more. Amongst the activities will be an All Star Concert at the Gateway Arch on Saturday, All-Star 5K & Fun Run on Sunday and All-Star Game Red Carpet Show on Tuesday. | Fair Saint Louis/Live On the Levee |
Celebrate St. Louis continues the summer fun with the Fair Saint Louis Celebration and Live on the Levee, the free summer festival in downtown St. Louis. Fair Saint Louis begins July 3rd at 6 pm with performances by Magnolia Summer and Counting Crows on the Budweiser Main stage, family entertainment in the Ameren UE/Schnucks K-Town Kids Zone and concludes with fireworks over the Mississippi River. The Annual VP Parade starts the day on July 4th at 10 am and the festival grounds open at 11 am.

The "Downtown is Alive" TV show that airs on STLTV, Charter and ATT Uverse will have an ALL STAR FOCUS and ALL STAR LINEUP! During the months of June and July viewers will have an opportunity to hear from Ron Watermon of the St. Louis Cardinals, Greg Saunders of Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront and Gary Van Matre of Mike Shannon's to hear how they are all preparing for the All Star Summer and upcoming festivities. The show will be posted to the downtown website by Wednesday, June 10th.

| Annual Membership Meeting |
|
The annual meeting of the Partnership for Downtown St. Louis will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront (4th & Chestnut Streets). The event will feature KMOV News Anchor Vickie Newton moderating conversations with St. Louis Cardinals President Bill Dewitt III and St. Louis Blues Chairman David Checketts. They'll discuss how owners of professional sports teams look beyond on-field, on-ice record to leverage downtown development. Displays featuring many of the downtown development projects will open at 11:15 am and the 2009 Downtown Progress Report that highlights many of the most recent accomplishments made through the CID, Downtown Partnership and downtown as a whole will be distributed at the meeting. | Downtown Recycle Day |
With the upcoming digital TV transition, Downtown is having
its first ever big electronics recycling event called Downtown
Unplugged!!! On June 24th EVS Realty,
Paradowski Creative and the Partnership for Downtown St. Louis with WITS
recycling will host drop-off sites for old computer and electronic equipment at key locations in downtown St. Louis. Although there is no cost to recycle 85% of
the electronics taken at this event (cell phones, LCD laptops, zip drives, printers,
pagers and cameras), there will be a minimal cost for some electronics that
require special handling due to hazardous metals like computer monitors and
televisions. To date the drop off
locations are the Gateway One Building and 1300 Market Street
